Kenn Dunn hosts annual MBIA breakfast 2018

Ken Dunn, RLA and Managing Member of Soltesz’s Lanham office, hosted the annual Maryland Building Industry Association (MBIA) Prince George’s County Chapter Breakfast on March 26, 2018 in Greenbelt, Maryland. Ken serves as MBIA’s Prince George’s County Chairman. MBIA members and non-members including builders, developers, consultants and regulators were encouraged to share their thoughts on how to work together to create a better Prince George’s County over coffee and breakfast at this morning’s event. The event was well received, with nearly 150 people in attendance. Several notable guests attended the event including Senator Chris Van Hollen; Prince George’s County Executive Rushern L. Baker, III; Dannielle M. Glaros, County Council Chair; and Betty Hewlett, Vice-Chair of the Maryland – National Capital Park and Planning Commission; in addition to several Council Members Pictured above: Ken Dunn presenting an award to Katina Shoulars, award recipient of MBIA’s Quality of Life Award, which is given for demonstrating a genuine concern for the quality of life in the County. The recipient fosters an atmosphere of partnership with the industry.

Soltesz Legacy Continues in 2018

As a key member of the CleanWater Partnership team, Soltesz has helped deliver 2000-acres worth of credits towards the Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) permit compliance requirements for the benefit of Prince George’s County.

Muirkirk pond was a significant individual project within the program. Soltesz identified the opportunity, determined the credit, obtained the landowner permission, designed and permitted the pond, while delivering the project on time and within budget. Projects like Muirkirk were identified across the County and have been a key element of MS4 CleanWater Partnership initiative, an innovative Public-Private Partnership approach to the success of the Prince George’s County requirements that are managed and led by Corvias Solutions.

The Lobster Festival has taken place every year since the inception of the club in 1975. Soltesz Announces Promotion and Retirement

Soltesz is very pleased to announce that Ed Carroll, P.E. has been promoted to Vice President and General Manager of the Southern Maryland operations.

Most recently, Ed served as Vice President and Director of Environmental Engineering for Soltesz. His leadership skills and brilliant delivery of client services have been outstanding, which led to his promotion to Vice President in 2011. Ed has been with the firm since 2003 and has 30 years of professional experience in the field of civil engineering and land use planning in Charles, Calvert, and St. Mary’s counties. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Urban Planning from Frostburg State University and is a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Maryland. Ed’s project experience is broad based over a wide range of civil engineering projects including industrial, commercial, residential, retail, survey, and municipal land development projects of varying complexity and sizes.As you are aware, David Cooksey has retired from the firm after 21 years serving as an Officer of the company. He has had a tremendous career in building the Southern Maryland operations, and we wish him all the best. Groundbreaking Ceremony for New Largo Hospital

A groundbreaking on November 30, 2017 for a $543 million new hospital in Largo was attended by Maryland and Prince George’s County officials.

The Regional Medical Center will be located at Largo Town Center. It will be directly accessible from the Capital Beltway's (I-495) Arena Drive Exit 15.Soltesz is honored to be performing site civil services for this new state-of-the-art Regional Medical Center that is affiliated with the University of Maryland Medical System. It will be the first teaching hospital in Southern Maryland that will include a 600,000 SF facility with an 11-story main patient care building, 205 private inpatient rooms, and eight operating rooms.
