Soltesz, a regional leader in civil engineering, has taken the lead role in reviewing and working with the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC) on its new design standards. The design criteria for WSSC utilities has become critical due to the increase of urban projects within the WSSC service district. The initial contract is for two years with the possibility of three additional one-year periods. Since opening, Camden Yards has served as the standard by which all new ballparks are measured.Jim is proud to have served as a previous member of the Stadium Authority where he played an integral role in building Camden Yards. Ken Dunn, Vice President and Managing Member of Soltesz LLC in Lanham, Maryland, served on behalf of the Maryland Building Industry Association (MBIA) at its Annual Prince George’s County Chapter Breakfast event. A large number of builders, developers, and associate members of the building industry attended this event on March 27, 2017.  County Executive, Prince George’s County, Rushern Baker and County Council Member, Prince George’s County, Dannielle Glaros provided comments on the State of the Economy for the County and exciting new developments. Revised Soil Erosion and Sediment Control Regulation

James Soltesz, Vice-Chair to the Maryland Business Regulatory Reform Commission, was instrumental in revising the Soil Erosion and Sediment Control/Change Code of Maryland Regulations Erosion & Sediment Control Requirements.

James Soltesz, Vice-Chair to the Maryland Business Regulatory Reform Commission, was instrumental in revising the Soil Erosion and Sediment Control/Change Code of Maryland Regulations Erosion & Sediment Control Requirements.  The Maryland Register released a revised regulation on January 20, 2017. The purpose of this regulation is to amend the definition of “grading unit." Previously, the code limited the "grading unit" to 20 acres, causing unnecessary expense and delays to construction operations.  Also, the proposed changes extends the time period an approved sediment control plan is valid, eliminates the requirement that sites be inspected once every 2 weeks, and updates the handbook entitled “2011 Maryland Standards and Specifications for Soil Erosion and Sediment Control (Maryland Register, Volume 44, Issue 2, January 20, 2017).At this time, the Maryland Register is required to allow for a 30 day public comment period.  MDE expects the revisions to the 20-acre limit to be in place by the end of March 2017.Soltesz is a professional services engineering firm providing civil engineering, planning, surveying, and environmental services to public and private clients throughout the Washington Metropolitan Area.  Founded in 1980, Soltesz is headquartered in Rockville, Maryland, with six offices strategically located throughout Maryland and the District of Columbia.

A Big Win for Soltesz

Soltesz to perform surveying, planning, and civil engineering design services for non-profit organizations in the area

Soltesz is proud to announce its recent selection to perform surveying, planning, and civil engineering design services for a minimum of 10 faith based or non-profit organization sites which have applied and met the requirements for the Prince George’s County Department of the Environment Alternative Compliance Program. This project meets the provisions and is a part of the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation Grant. The engineering team at Soltesz will retrofit these sites to provide water quality treatment devices to treat previously untreated impervious area. We will also be working/coordinating with University of Maryland so that they can monitor and gather data from several of the devices.
