Project description

Most recently, Soltesz worked on a reconstruction program to modernize the campus. As part of the modernization, Georgetown Prep opened the Hanley Center for Athletic Excellence—a state-of-the-art athletic center—redesigned the existing golf course, added athletic fields, and constructed new roads around campus.

The almost 110,000 square foot athletic center includes a 200-meter indoor track, 6,000-square-foot weight training and fitness room, 1,000-seat competition basketball gym, ten-lane competition pool, wrestling room, expanded locker rooms and coaches’ offices, and an athletic hall of fame.

As part of the campus-wide modernization, Soltesz was required to address an eroded, unmaintained stream. The stream required a detailed investigation before addressing any problems with innovative solutions.

Following an analysis on a downstream pond with siltation problems, completed by Soltesz staff, the firm recommended and designed innovative solutions to alleviate the problem. This entailed the full restoration of the existing on-site stream, which is approximately 800 linear feet, forest conservation efforts, eradication of invasive species, debris removal within the stream and embankments, and the creation of micro pools.
