Wounded Warrior Lodge

The Challenge

The Wounded Warrior Lodge is located on the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC) campus. The project involved the demolition of an existing 3-story building and the construction of a parking garage along with a lodging structure. One of the challenges was the aggressive project schedule. Design and permitting would need to be completed within 4-months all while still providing stormwater management design in accordance with the latest Maryland Department of Environment (MDE) Environmental Site Design (ESD) guidelines.

The Soltesz Solution

Soltesz provided stormwater management design via six micro-bioretention facilities spread across the site and a 5,000 SF green roof. The micro-bioretention facilities locations were carefully selected by Soltesz so that the maximum contributing areas do not exceed the amount set forth by the MDE guidelines. Soltesz retained third party review services and worked diligently with the reviewer to expedite the review process and obtain approvals to meet the deadline.
